The energetic, just and democratic transition is the motto of  Coopérnico, who works every day to make this transition an ever closer reality. Renewable energy production in Portugal is growing and Coopérnico believes that decentralized photovoltaic energy may play a much more prominent role than it has until now. We do not want new projects to exploit fossil fuels. Renewable electrification and energy efficiency are the way. This paradigm shift is fundamental if we are to tackle climate change and the consequences we all already feel.

The Algarve is by far the best place to invest in the production of photovoltaic energy. And this is what Coopérnico is doing: on October 2 we will start with our fourth photovoltaic production central in the Algarve! This project is in Tavira and in partnership with the Social and Parish Center of Santa Maria.

With this new project of photovoltaic energy Coopérnico members will contribute with 217,500 euros in investment in renewable energy, which produces the equivalent of the annual consumption of 100 families and avoids the emission of more than 200 tons of carbon dioxide per year.
